Consider 2 spring mass systems joined by a very weak spring :

The variables in this problem are :

  • 0 : time
  • 1 : displacement x 1
  • 2 : displacement x 2
  • 3 : velocity dx1/dt
  • 4 : velocity dx2/dt

Plot the displacement against time. Check the beat frequency first before plotting.

Do a phase plot. How does the plot differ from that of the previous exercise ?
